模具寿命的高低不仅是衡量模具质量的重要指标之一,而且在一定程度上反映了一个地区、一个国家的冶金工业和机械工业水平。目前,我国已成为世界模具制造大国,但还不是强国,我国模具的制造水平和使用寿命与先进国家相比,还有很大的差距,模具质量较低,使用寿命只有先进国家的1/5~1/2。据统计,在我国由于模具寿命低而造成的钢材、工时和能源浪费,以及由此对产品质量影响所带来的损失,每年达数十亿元;并且严重降低了产品生产效率,直接影响企业的经济效益和竞争力。因此,提高模具寿命是模具制造业中亟待解决的问题。
